Community Connections
A number of recent events highlight the important investments being made in Whitley County to prepare our community for future economic development, including the opening of Rail Connect Business Park, the opening of the new Parkview Whitley Hospital, and the launch of the Blue River Trail bridge project. In addition, the Business & Industry Open House tomorrow at Eagle Tech Academy will showcase new and growing businesses locating in our community.
Investments in community facilities like the hospital and trail system, or "shovel ready" industrial parks like Rail Connect, require the longtime commitment of business and community leaders. Columbia City Mayor Jim Fleck commented at the Blue River Trail event that the project has taken seven years to bring together and involved significant investments by the Dekko Foundation and Steel Dynamics.
As we keep Moving Forward as a community and in concert with regional efforts like Vision 2020 , investments like these will continue to be critical to our efforts to develop, attract, and retain companies like our open house exhibitors and a 21st century workforce like Eagle Tech Academy and our other Whitley County high schools are helping to cultivate. We can celebrate these important developments and build on the hard work and dedication that they reflect as we keep Moving Forward in 2011 and beyond!
