In fact, over one hundred years of insurance history and expertise leave our region well-placed for the successful expansion of existing Indiana companies in the financial services industry and exciting growth for new or relocating Indiana companies.

Indiana companies specializing in financial services are varied in their purpose and expertise. The Indiana financial service industry encompasses regional banking centers, back-office support organizations, customer service centers, retirement plan services and insurance services that span across commercial insurance, re-insurance and specialty insurance. The Northeast Indiana region is also home to several of the top pension plan administrators and consultants in the Nation.

Workforce Development

With 13 colleges and universities offering business degrees in Northeast Indiana and an enrollment of over 3,000 students, an educated workforce is available and qualified. Annually, more than 900 students receive bachelor degrees in accounting, finance or MBAs, with an additional 500 receiving associate degrees or certifications in accounting. Below are just a few of the specialized training available in northeast Indiana to help serve the financial and insurance services industry:

  • IVY TECH // IVY Tech has one main campus in Northeast Indiana, with classes offered in other cities, and enrolls more than 7,000 students annually within the region.
  • MANCHESTER COLLEGE // Four-year students pass the CPA exam at twice the national rate and 50 percent pass on the first try. Many students who score in the top 10 from Indiana received their education from Manchester College located in Wabash County.
  • IPFW // IPFW is home to the Richard T. Doermer School of Business and Management Sciences that offers degrees in Accounting & Finance, Economics, and Marketing & Management.

Indiana is one of only a handful of states with three universities offering insurance and actuarial degrees: Purdue University, Indiana State, and Ball State University.
