Industry Immersion

In 2014, the EDC started the Industry Immersion (2I) program. The program was created to help bridge the gap between industry and employers and students and educators.

2I events are short, experiential learning opportunities for high school educators, similar to an externship or an internship. These events provide unique opportunities for educators to identify skills and technologies utilized by local employers, to discover internship opportunities for their students, and opportunities to network with local industry leaders.

With this program employers can actually show educators with a presentation and tour, what’s happening inside their business, and help them better understand what skills are needed.

We believe when employers and educators are working together to prepare students, Whitley County will have a stronger “workforce ready” talent pool.

All educators in Whitley County are welcome to participate in 2I events, but participation in each event is limited to 12-15 participants based on host company preference. For more information contact the EDC at 244-5506 or edc@whitleyedc.com.
