COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. (June 19, 2014) – The Whitley County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) today announced the completion of the 2014 Survey of Benefits & Report of Wages for Whitley County.
“We are pleased to once again make available a survey of benefits and report of wages for Whitley County,” said EDC President Alan Tio, “Thanks to everyone who has been involved in developing this resource for use by current employers and decision makers considering new business opportunities in our community.”
The 2014 project is sponsored by the EDC, Northeast Indiana Works, and leading employers 80/20, Inc, Ultra Electronics-USSI, and Warner Electric, LLC. Staff at the Community Research Institute at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) utilized occupational wage data from Economic Modeling Specialists International (EMSI) based on employment data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages Program. An electronic survey of benefits such as leave, insurance, and retirement was distributed to area employers.
“This report provides a reference point for businesses owners and human resource professionals seeking information about competitive wages and benefits packages for key occupations in Whitley County,” said Ellen Cutter, Director of the Community Research Institute at IPFW, “ Understanding such information is linked to the successful recruitment and retention of employees, and, in that regard, is a valuable resource to optimize HR strategies.”
Other topics examined in the benefits survey include cost of benefits packages, impact of the Affordable Care Act, hiring practices, and use of resources available from Northeast Indiana Works. The 2014 Survey of Benefits & Report of Wages for Whitley County is available at the EDC website (www.whitleyedc.com) under the “Business Resources” section.
