DOT America, Inc. expanding in Columbia City and adding new jobs

COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. (July 25, 2017) – Medical coating technology provider, DOT America, Inc. has announced plans to consider expanding its operations in Columbia City.

Rostock, Germany-based DOT GmbH, announced its plans to expand and establish DOT America, Inc., back in 2014. The company invested $4.5 million to lease, renovate and equip its 17,520-square-foot facility in Columbia City’s Blue River Industrial Park. Now, the company is considering investing another $3.2 million to expand its current facility at 335 Towerview Drive in Columbia City, and plans to add new equipment, and add additional employees.

“Growth has been occurring here at DOT America even faster than we expected. There has been a real need for our capabilities in the area and in the industry as a whole. This growth could not be achieved without the support of the City of Columbia City and the great people here in Whitley County,” said DOT America President & CEO, Michael Venturini.

DOT GmbH was founded in 1992, and is a developer and provider of medical coating treatment technology for implants and instruments for the orthopedic industry. The company also develops and manufactures regenerative medicine products for the dental and orthopedic industries.

“We were so pleased when DOT GmbH established its first North American facility in Columbia City just three years ago, and we are pleased to hear that they are now considering our community for this additional expansion,” said Jon Myers, president of the Whitley County Economic Development Corporation (EDC). “Our location on Orthopedic Alley between Warsaw and Fort Wayne makes Columbia City an ideal location for the many companies that support Warsaw’s medical device industry.”

The new equipment will be used for additional processing capabilities, logistical distribution and information technology. DOT America currently employs 17 people, and will add five new jobs once the project is complete.

The Columbia City Common Council approved a ten-year tax abatement at the request of the Whitley County Economic Development Corporation (EDC).

“The City of Columbia City is pleased to support DOT America’s expansion,” said Mayor Ryan Daniel. “Since the company’s arrival to our community, they have exceeded our expectations in both job growth and wages. We are proud that Columbia City is home to DOT America.”
