Transportation & Logistics

Northeast Indiana transportation and logistics are an integral part of our region’s economic growth and stability. The Indiana transportation industry supports growing Indiana business ventures and their ever-present need to take messages and products to the rest of the nation.

As home to numerous Indiana businesses in the defense, bioscience, food processing and advanced manufacturing industries, Northeast Indiana’s proximity to major metros, offers opportunities to an extensive customer base for Indiana transportation companies.

Major Moves

In late 2005, Governor Mitch Daniels launched an aggressive 10-year transportation plan, known as “Major Moves,” to significantly improve and expand Indiana’s highway infrastructure. A total of $2.6 billion was committed to Major Moves from the long-term lease of the Indiana Toll Road, and the plan called for 104 new roadways by 2015 with 1,600 lane miles.
